Planning your build around Kenya’s rains
Why interiors and joinery suit the short rains, and why January is the month to sign for a dry-season start.
Weather shapes a construction programme more than most owners expect.
Groundworks prefer dry weather
Foundations and roofing are best done outside the March–May long rains. Signing your contract and finalising drawings in January gives time to mobilise for a dry-season start.
Interiors do not wait for the sun
Cabinetry, wardrobes, furniture and many finishing trades happen inside or in the workshop. The short rains are a good time to design, make joinery and fit out homes that are already roofed.
December is for site visits
Many of our clients abroad are home in December. It is the ideal moment to walk the site, see finished projects and sign off designs in person.
